You don't need a paid terminal to track a portfolio. These are the free layers that cover 95% of what a normal person needs.
Even if you mostly hold elsewhere, exchange apps (Binance, Kraken, and similar) have the cleanest free price feeds and alert systems. Create a watchlist of the assets you care about, then set price alerts instead of refreshing charts all day.
CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap both have free portfolio tracking with manual entry. The advantage over exchange dashboards: everything in one view — wallets, exchanges, chains — with allocation percentages.
Etherscan (and its equivalents on other chains) show you exactly what happened in any transaction or wallet. If you're serious about self-custody, learning to read an explorer is non-negotiable. It's also how you verify a suspicious transaction didn't move anything.
Charts are designed to keep you staring. Alerts free you. Set a few levels that actually matter to your plan, walk away, and let the phone ping you.
Before any transaction: what am I sending, to which contract, and what does it do? If the explorer or the wallet sim doesn't explain it clearly, don't sign it. This habit saves more money than every chart indicator combined.
The best tracking tool is a small routine: a watchlist, a few alerts, and five minutes a day. Everything else is noise.
